Inhabited

From the beginning of this ‘Jardin Spiritual’ blog in early summer, it occurred to me that all of nature is God’s garden. The work that I do in my garden with flowers, lettuce, strawberries - whatever I dabble in - only works, only grows, only astounds me by coming forth from seed, because God established the system that made it go.  And the scripture about the kingdom of God being like a mustard seed which though so tiny grows into a bush that all the birds in the garden take shelter in says to me that God’s idea for gardens is that they be populated.  It’s for the birds, the butterflies, ants, inchworms, bees and even my nemesis, the squirrel. I was no doubt assigned to Dad because Mom had my two younger brothers to look after in the house but it felt to me a great privilege to keep pace behind my father while he worked the land with this great and impressive machine. Only this year (2020) when my mom passed away did I do the math of conception - Ted Eric Dettweiler born full term on February 26 was imagined into being by my parents (because that's how babies come to us, boys and girls) during planting season. I am beginning this blog today because God always speaks to me when I "consider the lilies".  Many additional gardeners were born in 2020 with the advent of COVID19 because they had time on their
